This was an excellent Riesling and it really demonstrated the benefits of cellaring a wine like this. What I really enjoyed was an increase in the “kerosene” character which brought it into a new dimension and filled out the mid palate.
Delicious citrus, stone fruit and floral characteristics with hints of ginger and herbs. The acid was still quite minerally but with the oiliness character of 'kerosene' it had great complexity and balance.
The current 2013 vintage (not tasted) is available exvineyard for around NZ$18-19 per bottle. So could be a very good purchase for the cellar.
Tasted July 2014.
